| The Continuous Arm Chair was pioneered around 1780 by chairmakers in New York City, and established a new style previously formed by the Philadelphia makers. The C-arm remained most popluar through 1800. With its addition of back braces (key pictured at right), the C-arm is more than graceful; it is very strong as well. |
